about

if a tree falls on a man in a forest, does anyone hear him die? If a man leaves his family so that he can provide selflessly from a distance, does anyone appreciate it?

This is the Post-Humous story of that Mountaineer.

lyrics

The teal plaid coat of the mountaineer
With his steel-tip toes and sun-burnt ears
Filling wheelbarrows with the growing fear
That he'll never leave the mountainside,

ANd the axe swings down one final time
but the tree unbounds from its timber lines
it leaves no sound or trace behind
He was lonely on the way he died, yeah.

Back at home in the fireplace,
there's too much wood and no more space
for daddy's good on mommy's face
if there ever really was at all,

and now they've grown to miss him less,
and on her own she raised the best
that she knew how, as for the rest,
she prayed he'd stay this fall, or be all...

All Alone

Know this fire, feel it burn
while you were still too young to learn
I chose to live outside and earn
the wood to keep you warm.
and if you hate me understand,
you'll always be that baby in my hands,
but nothing's wilder than the heart of man
so I promised you from harm, far from home

All Alone

I drop the love outside your door
to stop would only hurt me more
I've gotta tear my soul in four,
the seasons call me home...
until then I've got to be...

Alone.
